Today we will continue to listen to music with an ear towards harmony, melody, and rhythm.
Friday we will listen to yet more music you bring in, but will begin to survey music from other cultures, particularly Indonesia, India, and West Africa.

Julia here,
I hope you all enjoy my Yo-Yo-ma collection; I'll have plenty more selections in store for all soon.
I’m liking the direction this class is going, let me know if you need anything from our vast music collection. (I'm talking to you Pete) Also would you consider field trips for this class, perhaps one to the Philadelphia Orchestra? Just tossing that out there, and anything you can throw back at me about Music theory in general would be greatly appreciated especially for those tedious up coming college auditions.
Peace
P.s.
Thank you for the Armstrong tracks, Pete. I would love it if you could get me more of what you have of him.
Julia again...
The more diverse the music, as you know, the better. So sock it to us. I've become so tired of the same "humdrum" american genres. Give me something for my ears to feed on, which I'm sure you will.
While you're at it is there any chance you could give me a list of the artists and titles of the songs on that second album you gave us?
Thanks
I am excited about studying more international music. I've found this class to be very enjoyable so far. Also I like Julia's field trip suggestion.

I am planning to take the class to Bethlehem a few times to see the Bach Choir there. I will keep my eyes open for some evening music- you let me know if you become aware of anything....
